Seasonal Cave Closure in Effect
All Hoosier National Forest caves are closed to visitors from September 1 through April 30 to prevent the disturbance of hibernating bats and reduce the spread of White-Nose syndrome in bats.

Alcohol Prohibited at German Ridge and Rainbow Lake
Possession of an alcoholic beverage is prohibited, as defined by State law, at the beach area, shelter, picnic area, parking lot, and surrounding vicinity at the German Ridge Recreation Area and the Rainbow Lakes Recreation Area.

Peninsula Trail Closed
The Peninsula Trail and Campsites 12 and 21 will remain closed until further notice. A severe storm in June 2024 caused significant damage.

Rainbow Lake Area Closure
This Order restricts access to an 2.33-acre area, consisting of a 100 foot no activity buffer from the Northwestern cliff edges of East Rainbow Lake as identified in Exhibit A.

Alcohol Prohibited at Hickory Ridge Lookout Tower
The following acts or omissions are prohibited within the area of the Hickory Ridge Lookout Tower within the Hoosier National Forest.

Springs Valley Campground Closure
Camping within any area encompassing the formerly named, "Springs Valley Campground" and building, attending, or maintaining a fire, campfire, or stove fire within any area encompassing the formerly named, "Springs Valley Campground" is prohibited.

Acts Prohibited within the Charles C. Deam Wilderness
The following acts and omissions are prohibited in Ihe Charles C. Deam Wilderness Area of the Hoosier National Forest.

Camping Prohibited at Hemlock Cliffs Trail System.
Camping is prohibited on or adjacent to the Hemlock Cliffs Trail.

Entry prohibited to areas marked for the protection of threatened, endangered or sensitive species
It is prohibited to go into or be upon any area that is posted closed for the protection of a threaten, endangered or Regional Foresters listed sensitive species.

Acts prohibited within areas designated for horse camping.
