Orders of the Forest Supervisor

As a visitor to the National Forest, you are asked to follow certain rules designed to protect the Forest, natural resources and to provide for public safety of visitors.

These rules are available to you online below or at any Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest office. Please take time to read and understand them. If you have additional questions, please call your local Forest Service Office for clarification.

In addition, the Forest Supervisor may issue Special Orders and Closures that will close or restrict the use of certain areas if the need arises. Emergency closure orders will be posted as an Alert so visitors to the Forest can reasonably be expected to be familiar with them.

Below you will find a listing of Forest closures, organized alphabetically. The alpha-numeric code at the end is the closure order number, provided for reference.

Bringing Firewood from Outside the CNNF is Prohibited - Forest Order 09-13-09-02

Firewood restrictions are in place to slow the spread of Emerald Ash Borer. This invasive beetle loves to travel on firewood so please leave firewood at home, unless you live within 25 miles of your National Forest destination.

Occupancy and Use Restrictions - Forest Order 09-13-09-01

Acts or omissions that are prohibited on National Forest System lands, roads and trails on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.
